But flying is safer than driving, I am not scared.
So tell me why flying is safer than driving. I am open to all sides of the argument.
I am even open to the argument "flying is safer than driving". Yep, it sure is, there are less plane accidents than road accidents that's for sure.
I said I am open to it, I don't agree to it. Now, lets be fair and listen to my argument. "shit no.... flying is no way safer than driving".
Lets take Canada for example:
In 1998, Canada had:
|
1998 |
20,583 |
13,855 |
3,780 |
333 |
13,855,000 - Vehicles registered
3,780,000 - Commercial vehicles registered
333,000 - Motorbikes registered
That is a total of 17,968,000 million vehicles registered.
They also had 150,919 - Automobile collisions causing injury
So lets do the math for you.
17,968,000 vehicles / 150,919 collision causing injuries = 1 in 119 chance of crashing if you are in a road accident.

So Canada has 17,968,000 vehicles. I will leave it up to you to ponder how many aircraft canada has, and how often you think these crash. Take a think about it, when was the last time you heard on the news that a plane went down?
Now let me ask you the question, IS FLYING SAFE THAN DRIVING!??
